On housecleaning, homemaking, and everyday domestic knowledge
I used to work in Gov Docs in college and I during downtimes would often peruse the aisles in search of, well, anything interesting. I also liked to read anything interesting that came across my desk being checked out or returned. One such item was the collection of USDA Farm Bulletin publications on housecleaning and household management. These are an absolute treasure trove of information that were used to educate home makers that I found very useful. They showed me that I didn’t need a ton of different name brand products for everything, and that with just a few products I could get most things done. I studied Home Economics for my Bachelor’s degree so it was all very interesting to me. You can check out archive.org and search through the bulletins! They are easily searchable there.
I still use the knowledge I got from those bulletins and refer to them still. I always keep mild dish soap, baking soda and vinegar at the sink. These 3 things are exceptionally versatile for cleaning and stain treatment & removal.
