Kitchen Tools: Mortar & Pestle

Do you use a mortar and pestle in your kitchen? When making certain dishes I like adding some mustard seed as an emulsifier along with some peppercorns, Celtic sea salt and some other freshly ground ingredients. It’s fun to experiment.

When I make my homemade chicken stock, I usually add some ground mustard seed and it really makes a difference. Without the emulsifier, it separates a lot. However, with it, it all comes together much better and creates a better experience when consuming it. That rich, velvety texture is just so MMMMM good!!
